Updated OPX methodology: a sharper lens on a maturing FuelEU pooling market
With the 2026 FuelEU pooling market evolving further, the OceanScore Pool-Price Index (OPX) reached €132/tCO₂e in July. July offer levels span €115 to €180/tCO₂e, slightly narrower than the €115 to €200/tCO₂e range seen in June, with the lower bound unchanged and reduced pricing at the upper end.
Surplus prices now exhibit a broader dispersion, driven by differing seller strategies and underlying generation costs, while the transactions we observe continue to concentrate at the lower price points achievable for the respective volumes. As the market has grown and diversified, we have refined the OPX methodology to capture volatile patterns more accurately.

Posted offers remain the strongest primary reference for capturing current market position. They cover a far broader share of the market than the relatively small pool of completed deals, and their greater number makes the index less dependent on any single transaction and single providers while keeping slower-moving segments visible. The result is a sharper, more reliable benchmark for FuelEU pooling prices.
