FuelEU will enter into force on Jan 1, 2025 and is by far the most complex environmental regulation affecting shipping so far. It will introduce new environmental indicators that must be calculated and reported, and non-compliance may result in significant penalties. However, compliance could result in financial opportunities.
Shipping companies already need to submit their monitoring plans by 31 August this year, so now is the time to start preparing, understanding, and assessing potential FuelEU exposure.
