OceanScore September Highlights: FuelEU Pooling Transparency & Shipping Compliance Updates
September 2025 was a month of milestones for OceanScore, from the launch of OPX (, our transparent FuelEU Pool-Price Index, to our clients’ surrender of the first EUAs. Alongside industry recognition and community events, these highlights reflect our commitment to making shipping compliance more transparent and efficient.
OPX: A New Benchmark for FuelEU Pool Prices
September marked the official launch of OPX (OceanScore Pool-Price Index), the industry’s first and transparent FuelEU pool price index.
Built on a clear, science-based methodology and weighted across small, medium, and large transactions, OPX provides the industry with a verifiable benchmark to support:
- FuelEU strategy decisions
- Charter-Party and SHIPMAN clause negotiations
With OPX, OceanScore is not just talking about transparency; we are publishing it.
Recognition in the Thetius 150
We are proud to have been included in the Thetius 150, a list of the world’s most innovative maritime technology companies.
This year, OceanScore moved from the Start-Up category into the SME section, reflecting our growth to managing compliance for more than 2,300 vessels. It’s a milestone that underscores both our journey and the trust our clients and partners place in us.
On Stage at TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Greece
End of September brought us to Athens for the TradeWinds Shipowners Forum Greece 2025, where our Managing Director, Albrecht Grell , presented OceanScore’s FuelEU Pooling Marketplace and our newly launched OceanScore Pool-Price Index (OPX).

The audience’s response confirmed the growing demand for transparency and reliable benchmarks in FuelEU strategy discussions and charter party negotiations. It was energising to share the stage with leading voices in Greek shipping, just weeks ahead of IMO’s MEPC where key regulatory clarity is expected.
A Regulatory Milestone: EU ETS Surrender Deadline
On 30 September, shipping reached its first major EU ETS deadline: the surrender of allowances for 2024 emissions.
Our clients successfully managed the surrender of 3,587,764 EUAs for 2024 emissions exposure via the OceanScore platform. This reflects 11.6% of the total EUAs to be surrendered to the EU.
Automated invoicing and transparent allocation on our platform, and our expert customer service team ensured a smooth process, turning compliance into competitive edge.
Team Spirit in Hamburg
Beyond compliance and market transparency, September also reminded us of the importance of community and resilience. The OceanScore team – strengthened by some bold customers – joined thousands of runners at B2Run Hamburg 2025, braving the rain at Volksparkstadion.
It was a celebration of teamwork, energy, and connection – values that carry through everything we do at OceanScore.

We’ve also welcomed two new colleagues to our Hamburg and Madeira offices, growing our international team and strengthening the expertise behind OceanScore’s compliance and transparency solutions.
Looking Ahead: October Events & Activities
As we move into October, we’re excited to continue the momentum. OceanScore will be present at two important industry events alongside ClassNK, STX, and CarbonLeap, bringing our insights on compliance, pooling, and market transparency to the global shipping community.
Stay tuned for updates, and thank you to our clients, partners, and team for making September 2025 a month to remember.
