Madeira office officially opened

OceanScore’s Madeira office officially opened! Driven by strong demand from shipping customers for our ETS solutions and ever growing data streams towards our ShipReview databases, we have officially opened our office in Funchal, the capital of wonderful Madeira. What are we doing there? We have decided to concentrate our data science activities as well as most of our customer service team in one place. Customer requirements and data go hand in hand, we want this to be a seamless collaboration to the benefit of our customers. We know that homeoffice and remote work are popular concepts, but true, effective collaborating with customers, building a strong team,… all that requires co-location. We believe in the quality of personal exchanges. Why Madeira? It’s not for its touristic benefits… Our affiliation with the Portuguese flag dates back many years. On Madeira, we found incredibly talented colleagues, great team players (everyone has been and is active in teamsports!). The educational system in Portugal is strong. English is spoken fluently, datascience taught at high levels, shipping part of the Portuguese DNA. Well – and there are those “soft” factors: Teammeeting under the sun – like last week, when the German team came down. The chance for individual team members in Hamburg or Gdynia to work from Madeira for a few weeks every now and then, that’s a benefit, too.
